The
1929 stock market crash and many families lost their fortunes, the Dior
family included as well as Christian's business partner. In
1935 he started selling his fashion sketches which led him to be hired
as a designer. In 1946, textile tycoon, Marcel Boussac
financed Christian Dior's own couture house. The mansion at
30 Ave is still the home to the house of Dior. Christian
showcased his first spring/summer collection on February 12, 1947 and
it was a huge success which lead to the signing of many licensing
agreements across the globe. Christian Dior was born on
January 21, 1905 in Normandy. His family later moved to Paris
where he attended college and studied Political Science. He
always had a passion for art and design but his family prevented him
from pursuing his passion. In 1928 he opened an art
gallery.
